Welcome to The New West.
The New West Community & Culture ezine has been an ongoing labour of love to share the stories and adventures of Western Canadians for the last five years.
The site recently had a fresh start due to a database error which caused the server to wipe out all the articles and blog-posts for the last couple of years. We took this in stride.
Maclean took it in stride. Michael was having heart palpitations for weeks trying to convince MySQL and the Server we actually DID have content. Sadly — inevitably — the database won.
What to expect from TNW? Maclean and Michael will be publishing articles regularly, posting photographs, inviting guests to write and generally having a good time sharing the goings-on of life in Western Canada. Down the road we will be publishing a printed, hardcover book each quarter of the Best of the New West on really nice recycled paper — take that MySQL!
Maclean Kay is a journalist living in Victoria, BC and enjoys rubbing in "Spring, Summer and Autumn" to those who don't live in this beautiful part of the world. He's connected to pretty much everything in BC and can be followed on Twitter and read often in the Times Colonist.
Michael Dargie is a writer and designer who operates a boutique ad agency for select clients in Southern Alberta. He's a blackbelt in Ju Jitsu, loves soccer and is always looking for the next adventure. You can follow him on Twitter and read about his various goings-on here on The New West.
What about you? We often invite guest writers and photographers to join us and share your stories and adventures. Get in touch with us.
